Called on a Wednesday at 12:15 pm....wasn't allowed to talk to anyone...just given about 15 names and their extensions. Then online I discovered they were already closed. Closed on a Wednesday????? Why?????
It was pleasant,except for the Person who set's at the desk.He was very roud.
Phone system is obnoxious I pressed 0 to talk to an agent at the main menu and a computer thing came on and asked my name SS# and birthday explaining how the phone system can gather this info now under the Social Security information act. The phone system never said why it was collecting this info and I assumed it was to help the agent serve quicker, boy was I supprised when I was told my Medicare card was reported lost or stolen and I just applied for a new one thats on its way with no way to undo this. Then I asked if I could talk to an agent and was told it would be 40 mins then hung up on. The automated system is horrible at recognizing speach to as if it hears any noise it will get confused or pick the wrong thing and not tell you what it is upto as above. If you can't get an automated answer service to work properly without making so many mistakes, you need a human receptionist.
I own an Assisted Living Home and it has taken them TEN months to get the pay that was due to the home for one resident. The first lady who waited on me in June 2016 lied through her teeth and told me they do representative payee by phone now, go home they will call you tomorrow. (After a 4 hour wait) I knew she was wrong and told her so but she wouldn't help. Just wanted to push it off on someone else (lazy) I've been doing this for 22 yrs and never seen such incompetent people working at Soc Sec. Finally after hundreds of calls and visits, got a hold of a supervisor who couldn't believe what she was seeing, pay had been there for 10 months but never mailed. Ridiculous.
It needs a two. Waiting is not fun. The "Guy at the desk"is a security guard and it's not his job to hand out lollipops. Most of the people he deals with every day are frustrated and irritable or have some physical or mental disability. I find this office much more agreeable than a secretary of state for instance.
