If You want to be on the save side, I would recomend plastic pipes for the replacment of the connection pipes and also for the installation within the houses!

WE AINT GOT NO WATER COME OOOONNN

Prior to the switch over from Detroit water to Flint river water, there must have been testing done to determine if the switch and usage was feasible. It seems obvious that records exist which would reveal years of data on the water quality up and down the river. At this point, river water should be tested on both sides upstream of the treatment plant in search of an answer as to the sources of acidity. Considering the drainoff from the immediately surrounding junk yards, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that the intake would be perhaps beyond the water plants capabilities. Now, will water treated with additives to coat the inside of pipes, again, eventually bring the water quality back to the usability of prior years or does the problem require a completely renovated, updated distribution system. Public distrust at this point will probably require and insist on a massive renovation project for the entire city and FIX the problem.

Studing the water Crisis in Flint, I read, that the the connection pipes, made of lead, will now be replaced by copper pipes. If your water is acidic, as it must be, if it disolves lead, it would also dissolve copper. You would be poisend by copper instead by lead. and for this ,you have to pay millions ofUSD.

Well, it's not great. However, the ruins of the old plant looks pretty cool when seen through the trees on Eastern Boulevard.

My Name is Eckart Hitsch,PHD, the father of Ulrike Romatschke. I am a water chemist in Salzburg in Austria in Europe with 40 yaers of experience in Water chemistry in the Municipal water works of Salzburg.

In europe the limits for Copper installation are pH 7,4 with steady control of the copper content in the produced water, or pH 7.0 without this control.

This is the 21th century and we still have lead poisoning this is very Sirius problem your are kidding me really their some thing wrong we people now day what els their is in your city water when you mention flint Michigan all I think is nothing but problems poverty unemployment crime its so sad that this excised in hour country I thought this is happening in 3ed world country's but here in america we should be ashamed and my thought's and prayer to these people who are paying the price for this

Water treatment with anti-corrosion agents will help, if properly done, but You are always dependent on good managing practice of the treatment plant and good knowlege of water chemistry!!
