POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE IN PERSON AND OVER THE PHONE. THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST COMPANY EVERRRRRRR. PLEASE NEVER EVER RENT FROM THIS PLACE NIGHTMARE IN THE FLESH
When reading the warnings online about rental cars and debit cards Dollar only mentions that they do not accept debit cards at Detroit rental agencies.
I made sure to read the rental agreement terms when i booked my reservation and thought it was fair when they required a little bit higher deposit.
I will be sure to share my experience with whom ever may ask.
Reserved my rental car for 4-1-16 pick up at 8 pm. Going on vacation with the entire family 4-2 5 I am SO EXCITED!!!!
WARNING! If you book online, the price that is quoted is not accurate, and you won't find out until you're actually in-person, picking up the car. This is especially true for renters under the age of 25 - I was charged an extra $30 without being told ahead of time. Also, the employees will try to convince you that credit cards do not provide rental car insurance, and will try to swindle you in purchasing basic coverage. At least for Discover, my credit card indeed provides rental car insurance, but the employees will try to convince you otherwise. Overall, $78 + $350 hold for a 12-HOUR rental is absolutely absurd.
My bad of coarse, Flint should be considered Detroit, they are neighbors 75 miles away from each other.
Thanks Dollar for ruining my families vacation. Try to find a rental on the first day of spring break at 8pm.
First experience with Dollar, I arrived and the agent told me no cars were available. So why was I allowed to reserve a car ? Then gave me a 45 minute explanation that sounded like sure bologna. That should have threw up a red flag. But like a idiot Priceline sent me to Dollar again, and the rental seemed fine until I was charged $31 dollars for a toll fee that I never got. I never went through a toll during the time I had the rental, now I have to take time on my freakin off day to explain this ! I had equally terrible service at Avis. If this is a plot to set me up it’s not going to work because I take good care of the rental cars, it’s a shame to be blacked balled and falsely accused so you can be limited from renting cars. Will call the Better Business Buearu if these business practices indicate any form of discrimination!
Its pretty lame they let you reserve a car with a debit card but then after you travel and get to the place to rent it with the same debit card they ask for a major credit card and without one you cant rent a car.
My foolish mistake the man behind the counter told me is that Flint is a Detroit area facility.
On 4-1 called to confirm my rental at Noon and the call center said everything is ready to go.... I could not find anywhere on how to contact the facility directly.
This would not bother me if i I simply misread the rental agreement. If I knew this fact I would simply find another rental car company that does.
Arrived at Flint Bishop Airport to pick up my car with the whole family in tow. Guess what, the man at the terminal would not accept my debit card as payment.
Just Terrible!!! They don't even deserve one star! But google requires at least one.
