I visited the Flint Children's Museum with four of my grandchildren and we had plenty of worthwhile hands on activities do and learn from.
We all enjoyed the Museum and will come back again.
We had a really fun time. I used to come here when I was a kid and it's changed sooooo much!! I was shocked at how up to date it was.
Each of the displays had worthwhile things to teach and allow the kids to observe and manipulate - they really liked each display. They all particularly liked the climbing wall.
We visit several times a year, more in the colder months. We've been coming since our oldest, now 21, was small, and they have come such a long ways, it's absolutely amazing. We didnt get as much use with her as we do with our younger ones. The Flint Children's Museum has been a favorite since our now 12-year-old was small. Now, it's a favorite for our 6-year-old son and his friends. Sometimes our 12-year-old still tags along and she still has a good time. (But it isnt somewhere she would request to go on her own.) We are ASTC museum members, so this museum is included on our pass, and it is a great place to enjoy an afternoon or a morning. We can come for an hour - or several hours. There is enough to do to keep them busy for as long (or short) as we want to stay. Our kids favorites have always been the grocery store and the pizza restaurant. They also love Sams house, the firetruck and the post office. (Our son loves being able to deliver the mail.) The neighbor girls that go with us at times really like the stage and the dress up theatre. Everyone's favorite seems to be the music rooms and the shadow wall. There is even an under 3 room for the smaller ones. Definitely something for everyone. Our son likes the rock wall and the changing exhibit depending on what it is. He loved the animal exhibit last year when we got to build a fort/cave. Oh, there is also an outside exhibit in warmer weather. I like it because I'm an ASTC member and can pop in whenever we have time. I like that they have planned events, although they don't always seem to follow thru on those as planned so I don't hold my breath. The whole thing is built in a square, which is neat. So you don't miss anything. There is a small gift shop area. Reasonably priced. I try to buy from here often because I'm an ASTC member and not a FCM member. I've heard they have special price days. (Check their calendar )They have a meeting/party/craft room. There are a few places for you to sit throughout the museum. Lots of interactive, hands on activities to keep your child engaged. All age appropriate. Lots of learning: Science, music, language arts, reading comprehension, math skills, everything to engage your early learner. Ages 0 to 10 (aprox.)would enjoy the museum. Ages 3-7 (average) would enjoy it the most.
Was there recently for a birthday party and the stuff was very rude and disrespectful they were telling and grabbing on kids and decided to get really nasty when we're tried to speak with a manger or someone in charge I've been here previously and I've never had these problems I hope that someone can give there employees an anger management course
Not the best for kids who aren't in the 3-4+ years age range. The charge for adults and children, over 1, is $6 per person. They shouldn't charge so much for younger kids/older babies. The "tot zone" really doesn't have much and every toy that requires batteries is dead and a lot of the other toys aren't in the best shape. If you have a littler one, this isn't the best place for them. I have been here a couple times with my 15 month old and I won't be going back until he's older and can enjoy everything but just one small room.
