I bought carpet from Smith & Smith for my entire upstairs - 4 bedrooms, 1 (huge) linen closet, the hall and stairs. I was happy with them until the installation. After two meetings at their store, we agreed on a two-step installation, with the first phase including the two largest bedrooms, hall and stairs (ONLY). I painted these rooms (only) and had neatly stacked all the furniture in the two smaller bedrooms and linen closet. The day of the install, Heather questioned why they could not install the complete job. I explained to her that I had painted, according to the install plan, and still had to paint two smaller bedrooms and linen closet. Furthermore, I had out of town guests arriving the day after the install and needed to set up the two larger bedrooms. When the installers arrived (one of them being a co-owner), I again reminded them that they were only doing to the two larger bedrooms, hall, and stairs.During the install, I went upstairs to find that they had moved my furniture (all over the place) and had installed carpet in all bedrooms. When I told them that this was not the way it was supposed to go and expressed my concerns over still needing to paint, I was told to just buy plastic. They even mentioned that they heard I had out of town guests coming, so they thought they would "help me out". (I still haven't figured out why Heather would have informed them about my guests, but not the install plan). After they left, I went upstairs and found total chaos. A metal bed spring with sharp edges was placed against a newly painted wall, with other items stacked against it. This caused damage to the wall, which now requires patching and repainting. I also found other damage along the hallway, apparently from haphazardly moving furniture (which they did not have permission to do). The worst thing is that the furniture was just moved and dropped "wherever" in a big mess. You can see the chaos in the attached pictures. Keep in mind that the furniture was neatly stored and was not supposed to be moved at all. It was previously neatly contained to two small rooms (the rooms which were not guest rooms). Unfortunately, I was not able to move the excess heavy furniture in the time allotted before my guests arrived. So, I had to pay for two hotel rooms for two nights to house my guests, one of them who is terminally ill.I did talk to Heather, who confirmed that she informed the installation team of the plan. However, the lead installer (again, a co-owner) decided to ignore the install plan and my wishes, and create total chaos and damage to my walls. Overall, their blunder is costing me hundreds of dollars. If you do use them, watch the installation, EVERY step of the way. They really put me in a horrible predicament.

I can't imagine anyone rating this company / family any less than 5 stars! I have worked with these brothers twice in the past and will be doing business again shortly. Amazing owners, outstanding customer service and professionalism. Very empathetic to individualized circumstances, financial limitations and amazing installation time from purchase date! !!!!! I will always go to smith and smith carpet!

My wife and I were in a panic when we were moving back home to Michigan from Tucson. We had been renting our home in Grand Blanc for 7 years and it was in dire need of new carpet. We needed to make sure we could get it done before the moving truck arrived. Thankfully the folks and Smith & Smith understood our situation and did everything to accommodate us. Not only did they get everything done in time we LOVE the carpet. Highly recommend.

Making my choice to drive 80 miles one way to go see them, and give them the job over anyone else was easy and not for one second did i hesitate on giving these good detailed people the job.
